Smartphone trends May–June 2025: what you need to know
What You Need to Know The smartphone industry is entering a fascinating phase. While flagship giants like Apple and Samsung continue to push design boundaries, mid-market innovation and budget advances are more rapid than ever.

Flagship slimness & AI Edge — Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge
Samsung shook the premium segment in mid-May by unveiling its Galaxy S25 Edge, an ultra-slim marvel measuring just 5. 8 mm thick and weighing around 163 g. It combines a titanium frame, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, a high-performance Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and a 200 MP main camera powered by computational photography. Notably, Samsung integrated smart features such as Gemini-powered contextual insights and suite-style AI tools for editing and productivity—all while maintaining battery life comparable to thicker phones.
Samsung also confirmed that this device helped the company reclaim the global market share lead in Q1 2025 (≈20% vs. Apple’s 19%). For parts suppliers, software vendors, and accessory manufacturers, the S25 Edge illustrates the delicate balance between elegance, AI utility, performance, and durability in flagship design.
