Summit where, finally, the American manufacturer officially presented the Snapdragon 865 revealing a very important detail that we could not communicate to you until a few days ago. The new top-end processor will in fact be equipped with a 5G modem and, although it is still separate, it cannot be eliminated as it happens today with the 855 and 855+, both available also in 4G version.
A detail that perhaps many have underestimated but that actually completely changes the positioning of products in 2020.
First of all we must start from an obvious observation: the new Qualcomm processor will be more expensive than the current model. We do not know in detail the costs that each brand will have to face but it is clear that the 2020 chipset will not be cheap. On the one hand, further technological development increases the costs, which have always gone up from generation to generation, on the other hand, the presence, obliged to remember, of the 5G modem makes the 865 a much more complex and consequently expensive hardware product.
Added to this are the costs required by Qualcomm to enter the Snapdragon world and the fixed costs deriving from the use of 5G (as confirmed by authoritative internal sources).
