Worldwide smartphone market grows
Grows 1% in Q2 2025 — AI Models Drive Modest Recovery After a turbulent 2024, the global smartphone market continued its slow but steady rebound in the second quarter of 2025.

Samsung regains momentum
Samsung led global shipments in Q2 2025 with ≈ 58 million units, up 7.9 % YoY, claiming a 19.7 % market share. Its rebound is attributed to the success of the Galaxy S24 and S24 Ultra, both marketed around on-device AI features such as generative photography and live translation. Industry trackers note that Samsung also benefited from tariff exemptions on key Asian markets and regained share lost to Apple during 2024’s supply chain bottlenecks.
Apple’s iphone 17 lineup holds steady
Apple shipped around 46.4 million iPhones, up a modest 1.5 % YoY, retaining roughly 15–16 % of the global market. Demand for the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro was driven by early adopters of Apple Intelligence — the company’s first full-stack integration of generative AI across iOS. However, analysts caution that average selling prices (ASPs) remain high, limiting volume expansion in emerging markets. IDC expects Apple’s annual growth to slow in H2 2025 as Android AI devices undercut it on price.
XIAOMI, VIVO, and transsion balance regional growth
Chinese vendors maintained solid positions despite domestic softness.
Xiaomi shipped about 42.5 million units (+ 0.6 %), with strong mid-range demand in India and Europe.
