Sweeney accused Sony of not wanting to support cross-play, defining it as the only company to have requested money to enable the aforementioned feature on Fortnite.
According to the representative of Epic, the Japanese giant would have required a payment depending on the number of PlayStation players active in the game, unlike all other platforms.
Subsequently, similar allegations also came from the Borderlands 3 team, and a little while ago SIE President JIm Ryan released the first statements on the subject.
“Sony supports and encourages cross-play,” Jim Ryan told Axios, “and our commitment is visible through games like Rocket League, Call of Duty, Minecraft and, soon, Destiny 2 as well.” The President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment went on to state that more titles will arrive in the future with support for cross-play, and that PlayStation will continue to renew its commitment in this field.
